John L. Bowman
Services for John L. Bowman, 96, of rural Delphi, were held Sunday in Logansport. Burial was in Rockfield IOOF Cemetery on Monday.
He died at 2:30 p.m. June 22, 2006, at Chase Center, Logansport.
Born May 21, 1910, in Rockfield, he was the son of Elmer and Clara Kessler Bowman. He was married on Dec. 25, 1934, in Burnettsville, to Goldie Golden, who survives.
A farmer, Mr. Bowman had worked at Logansport State Hospital.
He attended New Life Alliance Church in Logansport.
He enjoyed tractors and attending sales.
Surviving with his wife of 71 years are a daughter, Judy Leach (husband: Larry) of Manchester, Tenn.; two sisters, Rosemary Keesling of Manassas, Va., and Louada Chisholm (husband: Robbie) of Silver Springs, Md.; five grandchildren, Cynthia Bowman Wymann, Brian Bowman Smith, Brad Leach (wife: Renee), Stuart Leach (wife: Darcy), and Dan Leach; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Leach, Abigail Leach, Elliott Leach, Wyatt Wymann, and Coree Wymann; a sister-in-law, Lois Bowman of Galveston; and a special cousin, Herbert Bowman of rural Delphi.
One son and two brothers preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons or to a charity of the donor's choice. Rick Sisson
Mark Richard "Rick" Sisson, 40, of 216 W. North St., Delphi, died unexpectedly at 2:24 a.m. on June 20, 2006, at his residence.
Born in Lafayette on June 16, 1966, he was the son of Jack and Marilyn Harner Sisson. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1984, and attended Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Fla. He had also received his broker/real estate licenses.
His marriage was to Karen R. Cunningham in Delphi on Aug. 6, 1988, and she survives.
Mr. Sisson worked at PetersRevington Furniture factory in Delphi for three years, then he worked at Frito Lay in Frankfort for nine years. He sold real estate for RE/MAX of Lafayette, and Stan Hyman Real Estate of Delphi. For the past three years, he worked at Eli Lilly Company in Lafayette.
He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Delphi, where he was the past council president and current chairman of the stewardship committee.
He was involved with the Habitat for Humanity house currently being built and served on the committee. He had been very active with previous Habitat house projects.
Mr. Sisson was a former member of the Delphi Lions Club and a member of Lafayette Board of Realtors.
He enjoyed going to car shows, and he played on the Eli Lilly golf league.
Surviving with his wife are two children, Jennifer H. Sisson and Matthew J. Sisson, both at home; two brothers, John Sisson (wife: Patty) of Cranston, R.I., and Doug Sisson of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Vicki Harris (husband: Dale) of Fort Carson, Colo.; his mother and stepfather, Marilyn and Bruce Strong of Panama City, Fla; and nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday at Abbott Funeral Home, with burial at Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.
The family strongly suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Carroll County Habitat for Humanity, which was an organization that Rick truly enjoyed. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
