He was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Clinton Township, Cass County, the son of Charles Earl and Nellie Grant Foreman Snider. When he was six months old his mother died and he was raised until age ten by Harry and Bessie Nelson. He then returned to his father's home.

He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1937. He looked up Maxine E. Garrett, who had been his classmate when he attended grades 1 to 4 at Walton. They dated and were married Feb. 12, 1939, in their furnished home. The couple resided in Carroll County for most of their lives and in Liberty Township for the past 45 years.

Mr. Snider was a farmer. He drove a delivery truck for Baker's Specialty, Logansport, until his health failed in 1975. He and his wife owned and operated Mom's Place, a restaurant in Burrows, until they retired in 1988.

He was a 4-H leader in Liberty Township for 32 years, a 50-plus year member of the Blue Lodge at Deer Creek, now consolidated with Mt. Zion Lodge #211, F&AM at Camden; and a 50-year member of the Logansport Council, Logansport Chapter, and Commandry. He was also a member of the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine, both of Indianapolis, the Tux Patrol of the Logansport Shrine Club, and past patron of Order of the Eastern Star $433, Deer Creek.

A member of Carroll County Farm Bureau since 1946, he served as president and on several committees. He served 20 years on the Carroll County Council on Aging and was a past president of the board.

He was an active member of Camden Lions Club, serving as district governor in 1978 and 1979. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship in 1990 and was honored with the W.P. Wood 50-Year Award last March.

He was a member of the Rockfield Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday School superintendent and Sunday School teacher. An elder, he served many terms on the church session.

He and his wife were in charge of the food stand for the Camden Lions Club Tractor Pull for 20 years. He loved sports, watching birds and doing word puzzles.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Max E. Snider (wife: Gloria) of Logansport and Terry D. Snider (wife: Donna) of Delphi; one sister, Joanne Wood Timmons of Logansport; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgranddaughter.
