Chamber of Commerce
Carroll County Chamber of Commerce temporary board met June 22.
Dick Bradshaw advised that the Arnett Clinic meeting went well, with hopes of Arnett evaluating problem areas, taking possible corrective action, and willing to try and resolve the matter before December.
The Economic Development Corporation committed $10,000 to the chamber for 2006 and possibly $10,000 for 2007.
Executive Director Keith Chandler reported the business luncheons will be every other month with educational sessions being held between months.
The next meeting will be July 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Adams Township
Adams Township Extension Homemakers met June 21, with seven members attending. A lesson titled "Where are the Poisons in Your Home?" was presented.
Four members will participate in the 4-H fair open-class competition.
Eastern Star
Carroll Chapter No. 475 met on June 12 for installation of officers.
They were as follows: Evelyn Chapman, worthy matron; Jeff Sieber, worthy patron; Marilyn Wilburn, associate matron; Marjorie Sieber, secretary; DeAnna Sieber, treasurer; Cathy Berkshire, conductress; Susan Trueblood, associate conductress; Donald Hickman Jr., chaplain; Mary Trapp, marshal; Shirley Schock, organist; Lucille Brown, Adah; Jacqueline Edging, Ruth; Sandra Squier, Esther, Eunice Lowery, Martha; Grace Deel, Electa; Rodric Squier, warder; William Veach, sentinel; Jacquelyn Frye, soloist; Mickie Veach, prompter.
Installing officers were: Eunice Lowery, installing matron; Marjorie Sieber, installing marshal; Lucille Brown, installing chaplain; Peg Clark, installing organist.
The chapter said farewell to Susan and Bill Trueblood, past matron and patron. They were presented with a gift.
The next meeting will be Sept. 11, with the "Welcome Back" program.
Recent new members are Richard and Patricia Fite, Hanna Hickman, and Donald Hickman Jr.
