Ross honored by the National Football Foundation
Ross Kendal Ross was honored Sunday night at the second annual honors dinner hosted by the Northwest Indiana Chapter of the N a t i o n a l F o o t b a l l F o u n d a t i o n (NFF). He was one of 12 athletes in the region to be c o n s i d e r e d for the NFF's S c h o l a r Athlete of the Year.
All honorees received $300 for books and supplies. Ross was named one of three finalists for Scholar Athlete of the Year and received an additional $2,000 scholarship.
Ross was a two-way starter at tight end and defensive end for Delphi Community High School football team and served as team captain. He was the second-leading receiver on the team and won the Mental Attitude Award.
A May 2006 graduate, who ranked tenth in his class, he received an Academic Honors Diploma and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, D.A.R.E. role model and served as a delegate to Hoosier Boys State.
Ross distinguished himself as "an outstanding role model for his peers" and has been described by his coach as the epitome of a team player. He plans on attending Purdue University in the fall and studying agricultural engineering.
Ross plans to study engineering at Purdue University. He is the son of Kevin and Kay Ross of Delphi.
