Hog Joggers A cool breeze helped the start of the 28th annual Carroll County Hog Jog on Saturday. Runners pictured above were in the 10K race. They numbered about 150. A total of 500 registered for the 10K, 2-mile run/walk, and the runt jog. The event was sponsored by the Flora Lions Club. Comet photo by Jennifer Archibald Twenty-two-year-old Jordan Fife of Seymour won the 2006 Hog Jog. He ran the nearly six mile course in 33:50.

Fife has competed in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A May graduate of Indiana State University, he set ISU records in the 3000-meter steeplechase and in the 1500meter run.

He is the son of Randy and Cherie Fife and the grandson of Chuck and Mary Knight of Flora and Dick and Alma Eller of Burlington.

The overall female winner in the 10K run was Jacqueline Tarrent, 34, of Indianapolis. Her winning time was 38:03.

Winners in the 1.9-mile run were: Men Justin Hall, 23, Lafayette, 10:40. Women Kelby Jenkins, 14, Frankfort, 13:44

There were over 500 competitors in this year's event. Unofficial numbers include: 150 runners in the 10K; 175 in the 1.9-mile; 125 walkers; and 65 in the Runt Jog.

Flora Lions Club took over sponsorship of the Hog Jog from the FOP. They added online registration and electronic time and scoring by The End Result Company.

"The new scoring method allowed us to have results in two to three minutes instead of an hour or more," said Flora Lion Don Shively. "We were extremely pleased with the results." Runners all wore electronic ankle tags.
