Due to the reading program the library opens half an hour earlier than normal on Thursdays and will continue to do so until the program is over. The library is open on Thursdays from 9:30 am until 12 noon and from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday hours will remain the same as before throughout the summer: 10-12 and 1-6.
Once again the library had a roomful of world explorers. Twelve children traveled to Japan last week. The children could be heard throughout our small library saying hello and good-bye in Japanese. While in Japan they practiced calligraphy in the Asian style with brushes and black paint (in the place of ink). At the end of their adventure they had a snack before hopping on their airplanes and heading back to the United States. We have a beautiful tea set, a calligraphy set, and a decorative fan on display in our case in the back room.
The reading travel adventure is on Thursdays from 9:30-11 a.m. Mind travel via reading is safe, inexpensive, and healthy. Come and look at the library's display case, which contains items pertaining to the countries that readers will be visiting. The children have also produced some nice artwork that is displayed in the back room. On June 22, Australia will be the country visited.
The library has an attractive floor standing world globe that is the perfect height for young hands and minds to explore.
