Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Abbott of Delphi will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children and families. The event will be held on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Wabash & Erie Canal Interpretative Center in Delphi.

Abbott and the former Mary Helen Mears were married on June 10, 1956, at Delphi United Methodist Church.

He retired from the Delphi Post Office after 33 years of service, serving his last seven as post master. She retired from Delphi Community School Corporation after working 28 years in office administration. They also farmed in Deer Creek Township.

The couple are the parents of five children: Marcia Eppers (husband: Matt) of Bristol, Susan Norman (husband: Dr. Greg) of Flora, Mark Abbott (wife: Joan) of Delphi, Carl Abbott (wife: Leah) of Delphi and Connie Myer (husband: Steve) of Delphi. They also have 16 grandchildren. A granddaughter, Marlee Jo Abbott, is deceased.

They have requested no gifts, but cards are welcome.
