Camden
The library's summer reading program, "From Land, From Sky, From Sea," is for children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade and meets at the library. There is also a different program for students ages sixth through eighth grade. The first Storytime will be held today, June 7. Those taking part in the summer reading programs will receive a book bag.
The county-wide reading program, "Carroll County on the Same Page," began June 1. Several copies of the book, "Crow Lake," by Mary Lawson are available for checkout.
Burlington
The library will now be open on Thursdays 10 a.m. until 12 noon and from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday hours will remain the same throughout the summer 10-12 and 1-6. The library's summer reading adventure begins June 8 and will be run by the current library board president. The reading travel adventure will be on Thursdays from 9:30-11 a.m. The program coordinator is still looking for some helpful hands to help with crafts and snack time.
Northwest Carroll
The annual book sale will be June 9 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and June 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Delphi Public
An exhibition of works created by students in Tuesday Afternoon Drawing Studio will hang in the Gerber Globe Valve Room through June 9. The students have created works in graphite, pen and ink, and colored pencil.
The Coffee Beat goes Broadway on June 17 at 7 p.m., with performances of scenes and songs from some of Broadway's most memorable plays. The library's Red Brick Theatre members Rob and Emily Stone will present an excerpt from Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park" and other members will perform other wellknown songs.
Other upcoming events and programs include: iFilm Series 2006 will review the film "Le Grand Voyage" on June 22 at 7 p.m. Book Club will meet on June 23 at 9 a.m. to review "Night" by Elie Wiesel.
Flora-Monroe Township
Watercolor 2 Art Class will be offered from June 12 through July 10 on Monday evenings. The class is a continuation of Watercolor Class 1, which was offered in the spring. The instructor for the course is Brenda Daly Reid. Register at the main desk or call the library at 967-3912. There is a small fee for the class.
Over 50 years ago, C.S. Lewis created a land of wonder and enchantment called Narnia, and since then over 60 million readers have discovered the wondrous world that exists beyond the back of the wardrobe. "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" is the classic Narnia tale written in 1940. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy find their way through an old wardrobe into the world of Narnia. There, they unite with Aslan to fight the White Witch and save Narnia from perpetual Darkness. The library will hold a special viewing of Walt Disney's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" on June 15 at 1:30 p.m. The Saturday Morning Book Club will meet on June 17 to discuss "A Girl Named Zippy: Growing Up Small in Mooreland, Indiana" by Haven Kimmel.
