5 hits, 7 runs Oracles down Tipton

The Oracle baseball team ran its record to 7-11 last night after thumping Hoosier Conference foe Tipton 7-0.

Scott Brothers evened up his pitching record at 4-4 on the mound. He allowed only one hit and had 11 strikeouts. Mike Myers led the Oracle offense with two hits and three runs batted in. Josh Mullin had a big two-run batted in single to add the extra runs. Brock Zarse also had two hits.

Vs. West Lafayette

The West Lafayette Red Devils erupted in the fifth inning for 11 runs to beat the Oracles 14-2 in Hoosier Conference action last week. In the first inning, starting pitcher,

Kyle Bender gave up a tworun home run. In the bottom of the first the Oracles' Scott Seabolt matched the West side team with a two-run, home run, evening the score 2-2 at the bottom of the first. In the third, another Red Devil hit a home run to put the Red Devils up 3-2. The Oracles had a few chances but could not get the hit they needed. In the fifth the Red Devil bats came alive and scored 11 runs. Even though two Oracle errors were mixed in, the West Side club smacked the ball off of Bender and reliever Kyle Schwarzkopf. Bender picked up his third loss on the mound.

The Oracles will be in action again Wednesday against the Tipton squad at home.
