Services for Taylor B. Lambert, 87, of Manor Care, Kokomo, were held Thursday, May 11, at Neptune Funeral Home, Burlington. Pastor Dan Butcher officiated and burial, with military rites, was at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.

He died at 11:55 p.m. May 8, 2006, at Howard Regional Health Systems, Kokomo.

Born Jan. 12, 1919, in Barboursville, Ky., he was the son of Bard and Sarah Ida Lickliter Lambert. He married Naomi R. Williams on Feb. 14, 1940, and she died Feb. 28, 1999.

Mr. Lambert, who had resided in the Burlington area for 45 years, had been employed as a farm hand, cola miner, and trailer park manager at Lake Cicott.

He attended school in Knox County, Ky.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served from March 1942 to July 1945.

He enjoyed fishing, storytelling, and mechanical work.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond Glen Lambert (wife: Delores) of Bismark, N.D., and Charles E. Lambert (wife: Janet) of Swayzee; two daughters, Gloria J. Thompson (husband: Max) of Bringhurst and JoAnn Lidy (husband: John) of Naples, Fla.; one brother, George Lambert of Michigan; two sisters, Violet Helton of Ohio and Jewel Britton of Middlesboro, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Max Thompson Jr. and Michael Thompson, both of Bringhurst; Rebecca Downham of Camden, Melissa Mills of Augusta, Ga., Dawn Ibay and Matthew Lambert, both of Minot, N.D., Charles A. Lambert of Peru, Cynthia E. Harden of Windfall, Cara B. Jones of Delphi, Julie Corden of Kokomo, and Angela Woodruff of Michigantown; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Debra J., and four sisters preceded him in death.
