Atwood wins state freestyle wrestling title
Braden Atwood, wrestling at 165 pounds, won his sixteenth Indiana State Wrestling title last weekend at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Freestyle wrestling was the venue.
Atwood had won folkstyle in March and now won the freestyle. This weekend will be Greco Roman which is all upper body wrestling. If Atwood wins that event, he would become a Triple Crown winner.
Atwood wrestled six times to earn his title last weekend. He
pinned four of his opponents and had tech falls for the other two. By winning this tournament he will again represent the State of Indiana in the Schoolboy duals national tournament to be held in Indianapolis this summer. He will be a member of Team Indiana and will compete against wrestlers from other states in a dual meet format. Also in the area Cameron Valahos won at 145 pounds. He also has a shot at the triple crown.
