Pony Express remain undefeated

Delphi Pony Express baseball team is 4-0 after beating Sheridan and Rossville. On Wednesday, the Express got by Sheridan 6-1. Neil Snoeberger picked up the win with 13 strikeouts and 4 walks, while Tanner Cripe got the save with 2 strikeouts. Justin Snider had a hit and scored 2 runs, Adam Cunningham and Tanner Cripe, each had a hit, a run and an RBI and Braden Atwood had a hit and a run.

At Rossville Saturday, it was a close game until the top of the seventh, when the wheels fell off Rossville's defense and Delphi scored 8 runs, to win 14-2. Dustin Salyer gave up 3 hits, with 6 strikeouts, 2 walks for the win. Salyer also had 3 hits and 3 runs, Will Draper had 3 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBI's, Cunningham had a hit, 2 runs and 2 RBIs, Cripe had a hit, 2 runs and a RBI while Neil Snoeberger had 2 doubles, a run and 2 RBIs

For Rossville, Charlie Nichols pitched all 7 innings, giving up 12 hits, striking out 5 while walking 7. Umel had a hit and a run, Hack had a hit and an RBI, Griffey, a run, and Gochenour, an RBI.

In a game earlier last week, Delphi Pony Express beat Rossville 14-4 in 5 innings. Kris Bender got the win, allowing 2 hits, with 2 strikeouts and a walk. Cunningham relieved Bender in the third and had 4 strikeouts and a walk. In the 5th inning, Tyler Smith got the save, even though he gave up 4 walks with the help of good defense. A double play started by shortstop Salyer, to second baseman Cripe, to first baseman Bender and a popfly to Salyer put the game away. Cunningham had 2 hits, 3 runs and an RBI, Cripe had a hit, 3 runs and 4 RBIs, Snider, 2 runs and an RBI, Atwood and Landon Garrison each had a hit, a run and an RBI.

For Rossville, Cupp took over for Hack, who had a rough start, giving up 6 hits and walking 4. Griffey had a hit and a run, Gochenour a hit, Umel a run, Hack a run and Stingley a run.

The Express's next game is today, Wednesdy, at Flora against Carroll White.
