Mary K. Beck Souvarine, 85, of Oak Park, Ill., died on April 26, 2006, in her home.

Born in Burlington on Dec. 13, 1920, she was the daughter of W. Jean and Hazel Lybrook Beck. She was a 1938 graduate of Burlington High School and a 1943 graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis.

Her marriage was to Jack Souvarine in April of 1970, and he survives.

Mrs. Souvarine was a merchandise buyer and manager for Marshall Field's department store in Chicago for 40 years. Her work took her to several countries in Europe and to Japan and Israel.

Surviving with her husband are two sisters-in-law, Meta Osborne and Cora Beck of Bloomfield; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas G. Beck and a sister, Elizabeth Beck.

Burial was at Burlington Cemetery.
