Services for D o n a b e l l e Flora, 94, formerly of Flora, were held Friday at Reinke Funeral Home, Flora.

Herendeen and Alvin Grumbling officiated. Burial was at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.

She died at 3:50 p.m. May 2, 2006, at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi.

Born in Carroll County on May 10, 1911, she was the daughter of Byrll and Sue Harkin Chapman. She was a 1929 graduate of Flora High School.

Her marriage was to Russell R. Flora on Feb. 26, 1933, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1982.

Mrs. Flora was a homemaker and an active member of the Flora First Brethren Church, where she served as a deaconess on the deacon board with her husband and was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. She had also taught Sunday School and was the church pianist for a time.

She also volunteered many hours at the Brethren's Home and was a member of the Flora Art & Garden Club, and the U & I Club.

Surviving are a son, Donovan Flora (wife: Kathy Goater) of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Dawn Witter (husband: Jerry) of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Courtney Flora (husband: Ted Webber) of Seattle, Doug Witter

(wife: Ann) of Indianapolis, Brad Witter (wife: Heather) of Carmel, and Danae Witter of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and five great-grandchildren.

A sister, Dortha Tarkington, and a brother, Richard Chapman, preceded her in here in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Flora First Brethren Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
