Carroll County Republican Women
Carroll County Clerk Laura Sterrett, and staff provided the program for the April meeting of the Carroll County Republican Women. They shared information that will make voting a smoother process, and in particular stressed the importance of the newly required government issued photo ID that includes an expiration date.
Reports were given by the scholarship and fund raising committees that work together each year to offer scholarships to Carroll County students. Along with the usual raffles conducted at the county festivals and fairs during the coming year, the committee proposed hosting a home tour in the Deer Creek area sometime in August. Proceeds from the projects will fund the 2007 scholarships.
The May 15 meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Rockfield Community Center and will feature Joyce Smith, president of the Indiana Federation of Republican Women, as guest speaker. All interested women of Carroll County are encouraged and invited to attend.
Delphi Lions
Delphi Lions Club met May 3 at Stone Barn. Guest speaker local attorney Kurtis Fouts talked about living wills, power of attorney and last will and testaments.
There was a discussion about the donation to Camp Tecumseh for the tree house currently under construction. The project will be named for the club.
There will be a celebrity waiter competition to benefit the Carroll County Family Health Center June 16 at the Canal Interpretive Center. Workers are needed for the event.
June 25 was announced as the date for the annual golf outing at the Carroll County Country Club. Money earned at the event will be used for projects. Lions are also needed to help with the Independence Day Parade.
Delphi Girls' Softball was gifted with a popcorn popper and Lions are working on the Riley Park Boardwalk.
Candy sales resulted in $165 for the club. Bill Penn reported he recently retrieved 40 pairs of glasses and the recent broom and light bulb sale was deemed a success.
Ron Israel was welcomed as the newest club member.
