'Music for Mission' concert at Delphi UMC
Delphi United Methodist Church (UMC) will host a "Music for Mission" concert on May 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. Featured will be local artists Malachi Jaggers, Lee Anna Atwell, and Suzy Gustafson.
Jaggers is a contemporary artist who has performed at many local churches, the Carroll County and Tippecanoe County 4-H fairs, WLFI-TV Morning Show, and several local coffee houses. He writes a lot of his own music and has cut some CDs.
Atwell is more of a gospel singer. She has written a lot of lyrics for songs that the group, Trouble with Monday, has performed. She also sings with the group that has made appearances at the Taste of Tippecanoe, the Indianapolis Zoo, several county fairs across Indiana, Blueberry Festival in Plymouth.
Gustafson likes to call herself an inspirational country singer that means it is mostly Southern gospel. She has performed at many churches throughout Indiana including Liberty Chapel. She is scheduled to appear at Myers Dinner Theater this summer.
The concert will aid missionaries working, not in the remote villages in Africa or Brazil, but in the United States. Delphi UMC has a group of 38 volunteers who will be missionaries this summer in Mission, S.D. The concert will enable the group to offer help and assistance to the Lakota tribe on the Rosebud Reservation that serves one of the poorest economical areas in the United States. Projects the group may be assisting with include maintenance on homes, churches or shelters. Work can range from painting, roofing, replacing doors and windows to plumbing, electrical wiring, and/or carpentry.
The church is located at 118 N. Union St. in Delphi. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded.
