Williams offered superintendent position in Rush County
Rushville Consolidated School Corporation Board of School Trustees announced at their Tuesday evening board meeting, they reached an agreement with their top candidate, Dr. John Williams, to become the superintendent of public schools.
According to Kevin Green of the Rushville Republican, the board's action lasted approximately 45 seconds. The meeting then continued to other agenda items.
Rushville Consolidated School Corporation has a high school enrollment
of approximately 800, 1,000 in the middle school and 1,400 in the four elementary schools.
Current superintendent Ed Lyskowinski tendered his resignation effective June 30, 2006.
Rush County is located east of Indianapolis.
Williams was unavailable for comment Tuesday evening.
Williams has been superintendent of Delphi Community School Corporation for 13 years. He came to Delphi at the age of 45 after having
worked as assistant superintendent of the Lake Central School Corporation for five years. He had 10 years of experience as high school building principal at Fountain Central at Veedersburg.
He was appointed to serve two, two-year terms on the executive committee as an Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents North Central District III chairman.
He and his wife, Debby, who is principal of Camden Elementary School, have four children.
