April 22 was Wabash & Erie Earth Day in Delphi. The event brought 61 people to work on Delphi Historic Trails, including Brownies from Delphi Troop 1051. The Brownies and some of their siblings are pictured above. The workday volunteers represented local and out-of-county workers. Among those who came from a distance were a family from Marion and a couple from Tipton County, who are trained naturalists.

The old field has been flooded many times and is scheduled for forest reclamation. The Wildcat Creek Foundation is a non-profit organization, sponsoring conservation and responsible recreation of the Wildcat Creek. Photo provided Arbor Day planting One hundred forty-four seventh graders from Delphi Community Middle School planted 400 Norway spruce trees at Wildcat Wildlife Center last Friday. This is the ninth year that the seventh grade has sold trees as a fundraiser. They sell 2,500 trees a year, and some of the purchasers donate the trees back to the class for planting at the school or in the community. The seventh grade team of teachers is involved in the project, and proceeds fund the class's two big field trips - to the Indiana State Museum and to Turkey Run. The class also has an Arbor Day program at the school. Photo provided |
