The building trades program at Carroll Consolidated School Corporation is being discontinued as of next school year.

With the resignation of 11year building trades instructor Eldo Beam, corporation officials felt it was the right time to evaluate and make changes in the existing program to better meet the needs of students.

Whiteman Brothers, Inc., Kent Feeds dealer for the Delphi area, was recently recognized at a company sponsored appreciation and awards banquet in Indianapolis. Whiteman Brothers, Inc., received the outstanding sales and service award.

25 YEARS AGO

A postal collection box has been placed in front of Kenworthy's Grocery in Delphi in answer to numerous requests from residents in that area. If mail does not warrant keeping this box, it probably will be removed in the future, according to Harry Hammond, postmaster.

Grand Opening-Locally raised beef will be featured in Country Fresh Meats opening May 9 at 1 South Center Street in Flora. The market which is open from 9-6 p.m. Monday through Saturdays will also offer luncheon meats, cheeses, eggs and cuts of pork.

50 YEARS AGO

With 9,737 people registered to vote, Carroll County was ready this week for the primary election, to be held Tuesday May 8. Inspectors for 27 of the 28 precincts had been named by Tuesday afternoon and Saturday they were to report to the office of Joe R. Tolen, clerk of the Carroll Circuit Court, to pick up election-day supplies and ballots. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. (central standard time) and close at 6 p.m.

New Hope first and secondgraders came to Delphi Friday and took a train ride to Frankfort, where they were met by their mothers. Several of the mothers had never ridden on a train.

75 YEARS AGO

During the month of April, the Delphi Journal will accept new subscriptions for Carroll County's leading newspaper for the remainder of 1931 at on 50 cents and one dollar per year for old accounts.

The Diamond Oil Band of Flora has made arrangements to again play at the Indianapolis Speedway races on Decoration Day. This band has participated in this great display of bands for a number of years.

Mrs. Basil Plank Pitzer is offering permanent waving for $3 and marcelling for 50 cents. She is a Rainbow Beauty Academy graduate with six years of experience.

100 YEARS AGO

A farmer living east of town says that he rid his farm of rats in the following manner: "On a number of pieces of shingles put about a half teaspoon of molasses and on that I put a small quantity of lye and then put the shingles around under the cribs. The next morning found some forty dead rats, and the rest had 'skidooed.' I have cleared several farms of the pest in the same way and never knew it to fail."
