Program to help teens examine the effects of drugs and alcohol use
Family Services, Inc. announces that Insight, a ninesession educational group to help youth in grades 7-12 who are using alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs, will begin on May 31 at Family Services, Inc.'s office, 731 Main Street, Lafayette.
Insight guides participants to examine the effects of drugs and alcohol use on their lives, and to consider what actions they can take to improve their lives. Insight is often the first step in an extended intervention process. Topics of discussion include:
+Defenses and the role they play in the use of alcohol and other drugs +Harmful physical and mental effects of alcohol and drug use
+Myths about getting high
+Stages of Use, Abuse, and Dependency
+Warning signs of addiction and dependency
+Consequences participants have experienced from their use of alcohol and drugs.
Sessions will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., and will continue to meet each Wednesday evening through July 26.
