Delphi school corporation issues first quarter fiscal report
The first quarter fiscal report, presented to the Delphi Community School Corporation Board of Trustees at their Monday night meeting, indicated less than 25 percent of each line item, except one, was expended between Jan. 1 and March 31.
Superintendent John Williams reported 31.61 percent of the general fund, 10.59 percent of debt service, 12.89 percent of capital projects and nothing out of the bus replacement fund was utilized. The transportationoperating fund experienced a 25.82 depletion in the first quarter.
Williams noted the spending trend is not unusual for the first quarter.
Other news
Board members decided by consensus to pursue options to the current property and liability insurance coverage.
Jay Smith of MBAH Insurance gave a brief description of coverage alternatives. Those include a stand-alone policy, group coverage with like groups or pooling, which differs from group coverage in the manner it is managed.
MBAH will solicit quotes and develop comparison plans utilizing the three models for a future presentation. The enrollment period is on or after Jan. 1, 2007. Smith reminded board members the corporation's current plan expires in November of this year.
The board approved a $72,817 carpet replacement program. The high school, middle school, Camden Elementary and the administrative center will receive new flooring in various locations.
Resurfacing and re-striping the Hillcrest parking lot for $14,129 was approved.
New technology equipment was approved for the elementary computer labs and all of the libraries. In all, 133 CPUs, 26 monitors, one laptop, three servers, four printers and a replacement Microsoft Office Suite program will be purchased for $27,462.75. There will be a trade-in allowance, but the amount per unit was not known.
The board approved final payment of $93,535.20 to the Ft. Wayne Roofing Company for the completed Camden roofing project. The retainage of $69,900 plus interest was released.
The Monticello Strokers will use the high school pool April 24 to June 2 between 4 and 6:30 p.m. for swimming workouts.
The sixth grade will visit Camp Tecumseh May 8-9 for an annual trip.
Claims for $286,465.42 and payroll for $268,241.25 were approved. Employment:
+ Terri Flora middle school at-risk aide;
+ Judi Klopfenstein high school custodian; and
+ Wendy Hardesty high school cafeteria worker. Employment transfers:
+ Nicole McCauslin middle school at-risk secretary aide; and
+ Ina Disinger high school nine-12 month custodian.
The next meeting will be May 8 at 7 p.m.
