Flora-Monroe Township

A volunteer call-out and short meeting for Library Direct will be April 29 at 9 a.m. Library Direct is a new service being offered by the library to deliver library materials to homebound residents of the library district, including the elderly, handicapped, and those temporarily incapacitated by long-term illness or injury.

Art displays are bountiful in the library. Currently on display are works by the fourth and fifth grade Art Enrichment classes from Carroll Elementary School (CES), the Reading Rocks! Display from the CES second and third graders, and the paintings from Brenda Daly Reid's students of watercolor.

The Saturday Morning Book Club will meet on May 20 at 10 a.m. to discuss "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. The book tells an epic tale of fathers and sons, of friendship and betrayal, that takes us from the final days of Afghanistan's monarchy to the atrocities of the present.

Hosseini was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 1965. The son of a diplomat, his family received political asylum in the United States in 1980. He currently lives in California where he is a physician. "The Kite Runner" is his first novel.

Extra copies of the book will be available. Inquire at the main desk.

The theme for next storytime is "Flowers." Mary, Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow? With lots of looks, at picture books, and then with seeds she sows! Storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

Call Dial-a-Story with your child to hear great stories 24 hours a day. This week's story is "Billy Goats Gruff." On Friday the story changes to "The Old Woman and Her Pig." Call Dial-a-Story at 9673814.

Camden

Camden library's spring "Reminisce" meeting will be held May 8 at 10 a.m. Bring old pictures and stories to share.

Delphi Public

The Friday Morning Book Club will meet April 28 at 9 a.m. to review "The Body of Transept" by Jeanne M Dams. The review will be given by Georgeanne Leslie.

An exhibition of works created by students in Tuesday Afternoon Drawing Studio will hang in the Globe room from May 8 through 20. Students have created works in graphite, pen and ink and colored pencil. The following artists will be exhibiting works: Abigail Germond, Emma Germond, Clara Germond, Elisa Germond, Susannah Germond, Anita Smith, Christina Smith, Matthew Etter, Rebecca Etter, Lily Anderson, Rebecca McVay, Noah Reed, Janely Licona and Wanda Wilcox .

Evening Book Club meets May 24 at 7 p.m. to discuss "Ladder of Years" by Anne Tyler. The review will be given by Sara Daly-Brosman. Multiple copies of this title are available.

The Coffee Beat scheduled for May 20 will feature the music of Malachi Jaggers, who gives a truly great performance. Over the past five years, he has become a Coffee Beat staple and always offers an evening of inspirational and contemporary Christian music. Adding to his repetoire, Jaggers will play Beatles, classic rock and a little folk. Coffee starts brewing around 6:30 with music starting at 7 p.m. The coffee and music are free but bring some spare change for dessert.
