May 15 deadline Area IV Agency offers assistance with prescription drug coverage
Staff members from Area IV Agency on Aging will be available to help senior citizen's understand the new Medicare Prescription Drug Program and HoosierRx, Indiana's financial aid program. Staff will discuss the options available, and determine how they may or may not be beneficial depending on each individual's situation. Upcoming sessions are as follows:
+ Clinton County May 1: 10:30 a.m., Friendship Village; 1 p.m., Mulberry Meal Site. + Carroll County - 10:30 a.m.,
Camden Meal Site; 11:30 a.m., Flora Meal Site; 12:30 p.m., Burlington Meal Site.
The deadline for everyone on Medicare, regardless of income, to sign up for the program without incurring a penalty is May 15th. After that time (unless legislation changes the deadline), the penalty will be one percent per month for every month an individual is eligible and has not signed up.
There is no charge for this service through Area IV. Seniors should bring the following to the meeting: information regarding
their income and assets (so that we can determine if they are eligible for extra help paying for the program), a complete list of the prescription medications that they currently take, including the strength and frequency, and, in addition to Medicare, any information regarding medical and prescription insurance that they currently have.
For more information, contact the Area IV Office: Carroll County at (765)564-6466 or Clinton County at (765)6591408 or the Lafayette Office at (800)382-7556.
