Okay. Throw out the diet books. Trash the Taebo DVD. And, live a little....well, at least for the next few weeks. I'm featuring recipes made with America's favorite candy bars. All the recipes are ohso easy and oh-so-delicious. You'll flip over the 3 Musketeers Puffs, made with only two ingredients. Banana Cake with Milky Way Icing is out of this world. And, Payday Cake will make you feel like a million bucks! Watch for more sinful candy bar recipes next week. Happy eating!
Three Musketeers Puffs 3 Three Musketeer candy bars
1 pkg. Pillsbury Crescent rolls
Slice each candy bar into three pieces. Eat one. Set aside the others. Unfold crescents. Place one piece of candy in the center of each crescent. Fold around candy being sure to cover all of it. Pinch seams closed. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm.
Banana Cake
with Milky Way Icing 1/2 C. shortening 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 2 C. all-purpose 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 C. sour milk (or use buttermilk)
1 C. mashed bananas (3 or 4) Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs, beating well. Combine dry ingredients, then add sugar mixture, mashed bananas and milk. Mix well. Pour into a greased and floured 13x9 cake pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Milky Way Icing 2 C. packed brown sugar 1 T. flour 7 T. milk 1 large Milky Way candy bar, cut in pieces 1 tsp. vanilla extract In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar and flour, mixing well. Add milk and boil 1 minute. Pour over cut up Milky Way bar and beat until smooth. Add vanilla extract. Spread over cooled cake.
Payday Cake 1 box yellow cake mix 1/3 cup butter 3 C. miniature marshmallows 2/3 C. light corn syrup 1 egg 2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 C. peanut butter chips 2 C. salted peanuts
1 1/2 C. puffed rice cereal
1/4 C. butter Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix cake mix with butter and egg. Press into the bottom of a 13x9 inch pan and bake for 12 to 18 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with marshmallows. Return to oven for 1 to 2 minutes or until marshmallows begin to puff. In a saucepan over medium heat, cook corn syrup, fourth cup butter, vanilla extract and peanut butter chips until melted. Remove from heat and stir in the puffed rice cereal and peanuts. Spoon mixture over top of marshmallow topped cake and spread to cover. Allow to cool before serving.
