Comet staff report

Special Deputy Marion Riggle and his K-9 Udy recently spent five days in Bedford for narcotics training and certification. Riggle and his dog were certified as a Narcotics Detection Dog Team by Master Trainer Michael Johnson. They are certified with the International Police Work Dog Association for methamphetamine, marijuana, hashish, cocaine and heroin.

K-9 Udy is a two-year-old Doberman Pinscher. She is a certified tracker police service dog.

Riggle started Udy's training when she was seven weeks old. They have also trained in Fort Wayne and Northern Michigan.

Udy will replace Annie, the current K-9 dog, when she retires.

Riggle also attended an Operations Outlaws Drug Interdiction seminar while in Bedford.
