National Library Week is April 2-8. The 2006 theme is Change your World. National Library Week is a celebration of the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers to their schools, campuses and communities.
Make a change in your world by using all the resources our library has to offer including books, magazines, newspapers, DVD's, books on CD, databases, free Internet and word processing.
Events scheduled during library week:
An Evening with Christian Knoeller, Thursday, April 6, 7 p.m. Dr. Knoeller is an associate professor of English education at Purdue University. His poetry has appeared in many literary journals. He has been a finalist in several national book competitions, including the National Poetry Series. His first collection, Completing the Circle, published by Buttonwood Press (2000), was awarded the Millennium Prize, and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
Friends of the Library Book Sale, April 2-8. Special preview days will be on March 31 and April 1. There will be no early sales. Proceeds from the book sale will go to the Friends of the Flora Library.
A special Library Week storytime on April 4, 10 a.m. We'll be celebrating great children's books. Silly stories, songs and more will be the rule of the day. Bring your kids and grandkids in for all the fun!
Children can also hear great stories by calling the library's Dial-a-Story phone line. Diala Story is available 24 hours a day. Check with Mom and Dad before calling! This week's story is "The Brave Tin Soldier." On Friday the story changes to "How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin." . Northwest Carroll

Story Hour is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The theme on April 5 is April Showers.
Delphi Public
A Spring Gardening Seminar will be given by members of Carroll County Garden Club on April 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. A wide variety of gardening topics and tips will be discussed and demonstrations will be given. Call the library to register for this free seminar.
Evening Book Club meets April 19 at 7 p.m. to discuss "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. The review will be given by Jennifer McNeany. Multiple copies are available.
iFilm Series 2006 continues with the Russian film "Rods to Koktebel" on April 20 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The program, Lakota Culture: Life on Rosebud and Pine Ridge Reservation, will be presented by Janet and Gayle Hildreth on April 21 at 6:30 p.m. It will be a first hand account from the perspective of years of volunteering at the reservation school and within the Lakota community.
Coffee Beat on April 22 will feature the music of Guitars for Lunch.
Quilting Circle will meet April 24 at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in quilting, knitting or crocheting is invited to come with a project in progress and enjoy fellowship and the wisdom of other handcrafters.
Burlington
Burlington Community Library; located at 101 W. seventh Street, across the street from the Scoop, is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-12 noon and 1-6 p.m.
Due to lack of interest in the Basics of Drawing art classes, they have been cancelled. Anyone interested in taking art classes locally, contact the library.
Contact the library, too, with ideas for other events or classes that can be offered locally.
The library's back room is spacious with large tables and chairs that may be utilized for meetings or parties with a full size refrigerator for perishables for such occasions. Contact the library for information on this inexpensive place to hold a gathering (765-566-3166).
