Area youth groups are invited to participate in a T-SHIRT DECORATING CONTEST sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse Carroll County. The event is part of "In Celebration of Children" April events to honor National Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Awareness Month. DOLLY MADISON HOMEMAKERS CLUB will meet April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the home of Lori Schwarzkopf. Cohost is Virgie Irmeger.
CARROLL COUNTY COUNCIL will meet in regular session March 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the commissioners' meeting room, on the second floor of the courthouse. The decision will be made whether to levy an additional Economic Development Income Tax to county residents next year in an effort to negate the loss of the inventory tax. The public is encouraged to attend.
The AMERICAN LEGION BIRTHDAY SUPPER will be April 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Legion Hall on South Washington Street. Auxiliary members and sons of the legion are invited. It will be a carry-in supper. Those attending should bring a covered dish and table service. meat, drinks and birthday cake will be furnished.
DELPHI ART CLUB will meet at 7 p.m. April 6 at the Senior Center in Delphi (on Adams Street across from the Stone Barn). Host and hostesses will be Chris Haley, Barb Humphrey, Arlene Smith, and Phyllis Porter. Chris Haley will give a demonstration on "Light." All artists should take pencils and pads.
KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP at Carroll Elementary will be Thursday and Friday, April 13 and 14. Children must be five years old by Aug. 1, 2006, to attend kindergarten in the 20062007 school year. Parents should call the school, 967-4881, to schedule an appointment.
CARROLL COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE invites the public to a reception April 6 to welcome Keith Chandler, newly appointed executive director of the chamber. The open house will be from 5-7 p.m. at the 4-H Community Building at the Flora Community Park.
A CANAL PIONEERS CEMETERY WALK is set for April 9 at 2 p.m. at the IOOF Cemetery, Delphi. The walk is hosted by Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal Inc. It will be narrated in first-person format by Canal Board members Mary Crary and Mark A. Smith. This historical excursion back to the canal era will discuss the lives, careers, and families of the civic leaders who populated Delphi and Carroll County during that time period. The cemetery is located just outside the city limits along the Carrollton Road, not too far from Wilson Street. After the walk, visitors are invited to visit the Canal Interpretive Center, 1030 N. Washington Street.
Indiana Blood Center will hold a BLOOD DRIVE on April 28 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Delphi Community High School. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and present photo identification. Call (800) 632-4722 for more information.
