Signed, sealed and delivered
Hillcrest Elementary School second graders recently set up a post office. Each class had their own town names – like Gehebville, Wilson Hills, Freeman Town, Fieleke City, and Shidlerville – and their own zip codes. Post offices were in operation for three days for the Valentines Day rush. Some of the jobs included postmaster, cancellers, sorters, truck drivers and postmen. Kids wore postal uniforms and sorted from large wooden mail boxes. The unit culminated with a visit to the Delphi Post Office to see how a real post office is run.
