Dorothy E. Miller
died at 9:10 a.m. Jan. 15, 2006, at St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville.
Born July 26, 1923, in Burlington, Carroll County, she was the daughter of Fred and Nancy Franklin Allen. Her marriage was on March 18, 1939, in Pyrmont, to Kenneth E. Miller, who died in April 1996.
Mrs. Miller was a cook for the Pyrmont and Rossville school corporations, retiring in 1974. She also worked two years at Globe Valve in Delphi, and for Kessler Orchards as a picker and processor for three seasons.
A life member of the Pyrmont Church of the Brethren, she taught Sunday School for many years and also helped with church funeral dinners.
She was also a 50-year member of the Clay Harmony Extension Homemakers Club and was a correspondent for the Carroll County Comet for ten years.
Mrs. Miller attended school in Burlington through the tenth grade. She spent most of her life in Pyrmont.
She enjoyed baking pies and cakes.
Surviving are two daughters, Judith McKinley (husband: Tom) of Rossville and Kathy Middaugh (husband: Paul) of West Lafayette; one son, Stanley Miller (wife: Jimi) of Battleground; one brother, Walter Allen (wife: La Donna) of Flora; one sister, Mildred Smoker of Kokomo; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bodine Funeral Home, Rossville, with Pastor John Parsons officiating. Burial will be at Pyrmont Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
