Robert G.W. Mikels Jr., 88, of Battle Ground, died Dec. 17, 2005, in Dade City, Fla.

Born in Battle Ground on Feb. 4, 1917, he was the son of Robert G. W. Sr. and Avah Barnard Mikels.

He served in the Marine Corps.

His marriage was to Donna L. Kirk in Lafayette on Sept. 10, 1938, and she survives.

Mr. Mikels was an industrial engineer at Purdue University’s Michael Golden Labs for 28 years, before retiring.

Surviving are three sons, William Mikels (wife: Connie) of Battle Ground, Kenny Mikels (wife: Cheryl) of Lafayette and Jerry Mikels (wife: Judy) of Tennessee; two daughters, Rosalie Gray (husband: Ray) of Delphi and Marilyn Taylor (husband: Robert) of Florida; two sisters, Florence Denny of Logan and Eva Hamilton of West Point; two brothers, Paul Mikels of Florida and Don Mikels of Lafayette; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, six brothers and a sister.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Services will be there on Thursday at 10 a.m., with burial at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
