The Sights of the Season art exhibit will be available for viewing during library hours. Come see the beautiful art created by students of Brenda Daly Reid in a succession of art classes that began this summer. The works will be displayed through the holiday season.
BookPage is a publication available free to our patrons. A monthly general interest book review, BookPage covers the best in new releases. In the past ten years, BookPage has interviewed everyone from John Grisham to Norman Mailer, and typically reviews up to 100 of each month’s new fiction, nonfiction, business, children’s spoken work audio, and how-to-books. The tone is upbeat and literate, focusing on bestsellers as well as new discoveries. Pick up the newest copy of BookPage now available in the library.
Storytime will be on holiday break for the next two weeks. Storytime returns in early January with lots of great stories and learning opportunities in a fun safe environment.
Children can listen to stories 24 hours a day on the library’s Dial-AStory phone line. The current story is The Visit to Santa Claus Land. Friday the story will be Snowball’s Christmas Eve. Call Dial-A-Story at 967-3971.
Delphi Public
The library is participating in the American Library Association’s Adopt a Library program. The library has adopted a sister library, the Harrison County Library System, in Gulfport and Biloxi, Miss. This system has lost five of its eight buildings and has had funding cut drastically in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The list of needs is long, but the librarians have asked for help to fill an immediate need for processing supplies such as book jackets and spine labels, to help them get donated books on the shelves. DPL is taking up a collection. Please stop by the library to donate.
A special Kid Flick for children will be shown on Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. Come and get out of the cold and watch the story of Eloise, the most famous resident of the Plaza Hotel in New York City. It’s tinsel and holly and “fa la la lolly” when Eloise spreads her special brand of holiday cheer around the city.
During the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, DPL will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Evening hours will be reinstated beginning Jan. 3. DPL will be closed Dec. 24, 26 and 31, and Jan. 2. There will be no Story Time Programs during the weeks of Dec. 19 and 26.
APastel Drawing class for ages 12 and up will be Jan. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. All materials are supplied but class size is limited so sign up soon. Instructor is Sara Daly Brosman.
Drawing Studio will meet on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. beginning Jan. 3. Instructor is Sara Daly Brosman. Ask for supply list when registering.
The library is planning iFilm Series 2006 with the first showing on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. Amonthly film selection will be shown from a list of awardwinning, first-run independent and foreign films from the top festivals – Sundance, Cannes, Toronto and more. The first film is an Israelimade film titled Campfire.
Hot Club of Colfax will be featured at The Coffee Beat on Jan. 21. The coffee starts brewing around 6:30 and the music begins at 7 p.m.
Walton & Tipton Twp.
Penny Titus of Congressman Chris Chocola’s office will give a presentation and help senior citizens with Medicare Part D at the Walton & Tipton Township Public Library on Dec 22 at 10 a.m. The public is invited. There is no charge.
Burlington
Burlington Community Library closes down every year for two weeks during the holidays. This year the library will be closed the last week of December and the first week of January. Patrons having books due while the library is closed are asked to drop them off in the drop box.
Come in and fix yourself something warm to drink, read a book, magazine, newspaper or just enjoy the Christmas decorations.
In the New Year the library will be working to get a children’s reading program going and possibly a free tutor program for Burlington Township students. Anyone interested in volunteering or participating in either or both of these programs is asked to contact the library director, Gina Tull-Nunn at 566-3166. If she is not in, leave a message and she will return your call.
There are many new additions to the library. Come in and look at the new acquisitions shelf.

Camden-Jackson Township Public Library has a lot of good Christmas stories on the shelves available for checkout. They include: “The Christmas Box” by Richard Paul Evans, “Happy Holidays” by Janet Dailey, “A Midnight Clear” by Karen L. King, “A Victorian Christmas Quilt” by Palmer, Stoks, Smith and Aiken, “Those Christmas Angels” by Debbie Mcomber, “A Christmas Kiss” by Elizabeth Mansfield, “Tidings of Peace” by Tracie Peterson, “Shephards Abiding” by Jan Karon, and “Skipping Christmas” by John Grisham.
New DVDs include: “An Avanlea Christmas,” “Mrs. Santa Claus,” “Felicity, An American Girl Adventure,” “Felicity’s World,” and “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
