Death threatening E-mail scam reported

Carroll County Sheriffs Deputy Grant Davidson received a report about an Internet E-mail scam last Friday. A local resident received an E-mail threatening their life if money was not given to the sender. The E-mail, with an unknown origin, states "someone you know has paid us to kill you." The sender insists the recipient send $5,000 to save their life.

First of the season trail hike

The first in a series of trail walks will start the spring season on Saturday, May 10. Hikers may assemble at the east end of Riley Road at the top of Delphi's south hill (east off of Prince William Road and east of US 421/39) at 1 p.m. The narrated walk will last about two hours.

Rural Flora child severely injured in mowing mishap

A three-year-old rural Flora boy, identified as Shelbee Wolf, son of Rodney and Patty Wolf, was flown by PHI Air Medical to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis after he suffered severe leg and foot injuries last Wednesday afternoon.

Atwood wins 19th state wrestling title

Last weekend three members of the Delphi wrestling team competed in the Indiana State Wrestling Association's Freestyle State Meet. Braden Atwood, wrestling at cadet 171, won his 19th state title by winning all six of his matches. Not all of his titles have been freestyle.

Carroll wins stock market competition

For the fifth year in a row, Carroll Elementary has won the statewide Stock Market Game competition in the elementary division. Carroll had three teams in the top 10 - capturing first, third, and seventh places. Playing the stock market computer game is part of a 10- week project in Mike Hyman's fifth grade math class. There's a new competition for each semester.

Carroll math team wins championship

For the 10th straight year, Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School's math team has won the Hoosier Heartland Conference math contest. Carroll won the championship title on April 29 with a score of 1,233. Second place winner was Tri-Central with a score of 1,004.

Carroll students roll up their sleeves over spring break

A group of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School students and five adults went to Covington, La., over spring break to do construction work on houses for victims of hurricane Katrina. They worked on four houses, all on the same street. The Carroll group split up and worked on several different tasks in new construction. They put up siding, did roofing, and other miscellaneous work.
